Books That I Want to Read to My Children

Perhaps it's fitting to have my first blog post about children's books.

I'm a big believer in reading to your children, and it's been on my mind lately. Just think: what would the world be like if every mother read to their child? I have many fond memories of my mother reading to me before tucking my brother and I into bed.

I thought I would share some of my favorite books growing up. What are some of your favorite children's books? I would love to hear from you!

  1. Okay, so it's kind of weird, but Hoss seems to like it when I read books with an accent (since she doesn't know I stink at them!). For example, she gets to hear Peter Rabbit with a "British" accent, or this random book called "The Fisherman's Catch" http://www.amazon.com/The-Fishermans-Catch-Conservative-Bedtime/dp/0982709900 (obviously a political tirade, but eh) where the character is Hanaohoulani and is obviously Polynesian, so she gets to hear it with kind of an "island" accent. Also, I always loved "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "Tiki Tiki Tembo". I VERY MUCH DISLIKE "GO DOG GO", but the kid loves it and it teaches her things, so I read it to her. I could go on, but I will stop now, but can I just say there are a LOT of dumb kids books out there right now? Thanks for the book ideas!

    1. That's really funny because I actually love reading books with accents! One time I realized that my husband didn't know that there was a Shrek book before any Shrek movie came out, so I read it to him in all the different characters voices, and we were laughing to the point of tears. It's such fun! Anyway, Hoss is one lucky kid :) And I will have to check out Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, like you said good kids books are hard to find.

P.S. Sorry this took FOREVER to comment on. I am slowly trying to get myself to blog.
